Ask a reference desk clerk or librarian for assistance.
| COURSE DESCRIPTION | This advanced course gives a review of the theory, principles and methods used in the evaluation of residential, commercial, and industrial properties. It also features case study problems illustrating the use of the three approaches to value and a thorough analysis of the components utilized by the income producing properties. An appraisal report on an income producing property is required. | COURSE REQUIREMENTS | Before you start the course, be sure to complete the ETUDES-NG orientation. This will give you an overview the functions of Etudes-NG and assist you in navigating the portal. | COURSE ASSIGNMENTS | Assignment include: text book readings, power points, quizzes, exams, case studies, discussions and additional readings. | DROPPING THE CLASS | It is the students’ responsibility to drop a class. Students can drop by phone, in person and online. The college admissions office sets deadlines. Please check with them. | ACADEMIC STANDARDS | The best way to receive the maximum benefit from this class is to log on daily, read the text, complete and turn-in assignments according to schedule, and participate in the discussion-oriented forums when assigned. Students stand to benefit most when assignments are well written and care is reflected in the work submitted. Although the class is online, work is expected to be well-written following the rules of Standard English grammar, spelling, and punctuation. All university rules of plagiarism apply to all of your assignments. Students are responsible for completing and submitting all assignments promptly. Assignments, quizzes, and exams not taken will receive a failing grade. However there may be extra credit opportunities to improve your over all points. | COURSE OBJECTIVES/ STUDENT LEARNING OBJECTIVES Critical Thinking: Students are assessed through challenge exercises in the form of an appraisal report.
Quantitative Reasoning: Students will identify the necessary scope of work to solve a given appraisal problem and collect data relevant to that problem to conclude an estimate of market value for a given property.
Ethics: Students will compare and contrast codes of conduct and professional responsibility for appraisers and real estate brokers.
| METHOD OF INSTRUCTION | This is an online course requiring written assignments, objective tests and online discussions.
