General Course Description
| Introduces the areas of history and systems, research methodology, biological bases of behavior, learning and memory, cognition and intelligence, personality, stress and health psychology, behavior disorders (psychopathology) and treatments, human sexuality, child development, life span development, and social psychology. |
Method of Evaluation
1. There will be 6 multiple-choice exams. Exam #1: 70 pts. Exam #4: 71 pts. Exam #2: 70 pts. Exam #5: 98 pts. Exam #3: 67 pts. 2. There will be a paper worth 40 pts. Your paper must be type written and double-spaced. The topic is on your dreams and your interpretation of them using Freud’s dream interpretation method. I will be handing out an article written by Freud on his dream interpretation technique. Your paper should be at least 4 pages, not including the title page.

- Explain the different types of learning, giving examples of each.
- Match up psychological theories with their theorists.
- Know the causes, symptoms and treatment for sexual dysfunctions
- Explain the major approaches to therapy
- Recognize the meaning of psychological terms.

Other Important Information
- I reserve the right to withdraw any student who misses more than 6 daytime (or 3 evening) class sessions.
- Be courteous to your fellow classmates by not talking to other students during a lecture or while another student is talking.
- It is disruptive when students walk in late or leave in the middle of class.
- Cell phones are disruptive and should be turned off during class.
- Be sure to drop the class, should you stop attending.
