Topics covered include the nature and types of property management, organization for management, leases and contracts, selling of space and techniques of renting, tenant selection and supervision, and many other ethical, legal and professional relationships between owners and tenants. This course is a Department of Real Estate elective course. Section #8486 Goals & Objectives: Students will have fundamental knowledge of Property Mgmt. concepts and terminology. Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to complete, understand and explain leases and be able to anticipate financial and physical challenges facing property managers, educate investors and investment property owners. Course Materials: The main material for this course includes the course textbook, the Sunday Real Estate section of the Los Angeles Times, and any other materials assigned or provided by the instructor. Class format will on-line and include announcement, modules, assignments and quizzes. Students must log on everyday to pass this course except for weekends and legal holidays. Assignments and Exams: Students are expected to log in daily, read the text, complete and turn-in assignments according to schedule to receive the maximum benefit from this class. Students are expected to read the assigned text pages before each class and to complete all course assignments. Points will not be given for late assignments and No make up quizzes, mid terms or final exams will be given.
Course Withdrawal Procedure: Any student intending to withdraw from the course must follow the proper procedure, in accordance with the college Admissions office. Please check with them.

COURSE FORMAT: We have 15 Chapters to cover in 5 weeks. This means we will cover 3 chapters per week. At the end of each week we will have a comprehensive quiz, mid-term and the last week a final exam. Each chapter will have a power point presentation converted to a pdf file (for easy download) summarizing the chapters. After you review the pdf you will be asked to analyze the information disseminated in the text, and write a short reflective journal entry on what you read. Each reflective journal entry will help you pass the quizzes, mid-term and final exam. After scoring the quiz each question will be examined so that students will understand why the correct answer is the correct answer and why the other choices are incorrect or less correct. This method is intended to provide students with fundamental information about Property Mgmt. There are no make-up assignments or exams. COURSE SCHEDULE:
